Texas Teacher & Dog Murdered: Helping Friend Escape Abuse

A Texas woman and her dog were murdered over the weekend after she helped her friend escape an alleged domestic violence relationship. People Magazine reports that the Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Shantavia Reddick.

The Spring Independent School District confirmed that Reddick had taught elementary school since 2020. Her students loved her and didn’t understand why this happened to her.

On September 9, the police responded to a report of a shooting in Spring, Texas. Law enforcement located Reddick, who suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

Law & Crime reports that investigators learned that Reddick was helping a friend escape a domestic violence relationship. She was picking up her friend to get out of a violent situation.
