NCAA Lawsuit Challenges Title IX for Transgender Inclusion in Sports
Sixteen female college athletes have filed a legal complaint against the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) for permitting transgender athletes to participate in competition with them and for requiring them to share a female locker room with Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer who still possesses “complete male genitalia.”
The Times & Sunday Times reports that 16 women who are involved in a legal case are claiming that the NCAA engaged in “institutionalized cheating and discrimination” through their endorsement and efforts to include Thomas.
16 Women File A Lawsuit Against The NCAA
On Thursday, a lawsuit of 156 pages was submitted to the United States District Court in the northern district of Atlanta, Georgia.
The lawsuit claims that around 300 female college students were compelled to use the same locker rooms and shower facilities as Thomas while she was on the women’s swim team at the University of Pennsylvania.
In 2022, Thomas gained notoriety for winning the NCAA Division 1 swimming championships. She emerged as the champion in the women’s 500-yard freestyle competition, surpassing two female swimmers who had previously won Olympic silver medals.
