An Ohio resident has confessed to lacing his wife’s drinks with poison over several months in a scheme to end her life and marry her daughter. People reports that George Wilson, 68, received his sentence this week after confessing to aggravated assault, risking death for the 2022 poisonings that repeatedly hospitalized his wife, the Kansas City Star reported, citing law enforcement.

The investigation into Wilson began in 2023 when his 48-year-old wife, Sarah Thompson, alerted police that he was attempting to poison her. She was suffering from “unexplained migraines, lethargy, stomach issues, and more” due to the poisoning, according to the charging documents.

Tests later revealed Thompson had ingested various drugs, including ecstasy and meth, which she insisted she hadn’t knowingly taken.

Wilson initially admitted to her that he had been spiking her soft drinks, as per the arrest report cited by USA Today. Thompson then discovered a suspicious powder in Pepsi cans. Wilson told officers he was poisoning his wife to marry her daughter, prosecutors said.
