KKK Member Henry Alexander Denied Killing Willie Edwards Jr. — Until His Final Moments
Alexander still found a way to blame victim Willie Edwards, Jr for his murder, “ He wouldn’t have died if he would have run.”
In 1957, a group of four Ku Klux Klan members abducted Willie Edwards Jr., a truck driver, and forced him to leap from the Tyler-Goodwin Bridge near Montgomery, Alabama.
Edwards, merely 25 years old, had stopped during his delivery route to purchase refreshments when the men, brandishing firearms, forced him to leave his truck and enter their vehicle.
The Klansmen accused Edwards of having “offended a white woman” and subjected him to physical abuse during the drive to the bridge spanning the Alabama River.
Upon reaching their intended location, they ordered Edwards to choose between jumping or being shot. Edwards plunged 125 feet to his death.
In 1976, one of the men, Raymond Britt, admitted to the crime. Britt received immunity…
