Kansas Pushes To Erase Transgender People — Moves To Only Allow Biological Sex In Government Documents

Kansas bill moves to force transgender people to identify with their biological sex on government documents, such as driver’s licenses.

Medical professionals say reproductive anatomy at birth does not always align with strict definitions of sex and that binary views of sexual identity can miss biological nuances. PBS reports that a transgender person with a driver’s license or birth certificate matching their chosen sexual identity can prevent unwarranted harassment and daily hassles, especially when traveling.

LGBTQ advocates believe the Kansas bill would make it harder for transgender people to use public restrooms and obtain government documents to match their gender.

State Bill No 180 aims to define man and woman and seeks to require to be considered a woman; it must be your biological sex.
