‘Just Get A Fucking Job, Chrissie!!’

I am so tired of these well-meaning comments about my career. Some of the remarks are downright stupid!

Being a content writer has advantages and disadvantages. One of the benefits is making my own schedule. The disadvantage for me has always been outsider views (and comments) on my chosen career.

Ten years ago, my then-teenage son and my ex-husband would attack me about my job. They thought I needed a “real job.” They’d yell, “ It’s a pretend job.” Or my personal favorite, “my little job.”

This job at the time was bringing in nearly $4K a week. I was contributing to Yahoo News, and Inquisitr, and was the editorial director for Soap Opera Spy & Hollywood Hiccups. It was no little job and it made more than either one of those fools ever seen in a week. And not to mention, my ex-husband was a bum who hadn’t had a job in years!

After years of them making fun of me for being an online content creator, it made me very sensitive to others trashing my line of work.

My husband and I are going through a tough time right now. He lost two clients, he is a body shop technician. NewsBreak announced they are closing shop and opening a new platform. There is no guarantee I will be rehired, either. NewsBreak is the bulk of my…
