This article is going to be hard for some of you to read. It isn’t my job to protect your read ratio. I don’t care how many disclaimers you put on your story. If your story sucks, I will click out immediately.

I have seen a record amount of Medium writers put disclaimers at the top of their articles. It goes something like this,” Please help me with my read ratio. Please stay on the page for at least 30 seconds.”

Hell no!

Ditch The Disclaimer

Instead of composing a bogus disclaimer to ask the readers to read longer, try writing more engaging content. Please give me a reason to stay. Give me a reason to clap, highlight, and comment.

People love to read engaging and exciting content. I know I do. My reading list includes personal stories, crime news, blogging tips, satire, and erotica. I like to read. I read approximately 100 Medium stories daily.
