Grey’s Anatomy’ Cast ‘Overjoyed’ With Ellen Pompeo’s Exit, Sources Say She Was ‘Toxic On The Set’
Insider says Ellen Pompeo has a “huge ego” and is a “tyrant on the set.”
Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo exited the ABC medical drama on Thursday, February 23. Radar Online reported that her former co-stars are happy to see her go, stating she was a ‘tyrant’ on the set. Sources say the cast feels relieved that she left the show, as she allegedly created a toxic working environment on the set.
The 52-year-old actress played Meredith Grey for 19 seasons. She shares kids, Stella, 12, Sienna, 8, and Eli, 6, with her husband, Chris Ivery, 56. She pulled in an estimated $550,000 per episode, making her the highest-paid TV actress. But even though she was making the ‘big bucks,’ the insider claims she was impossible to work with.
“She has a colossal ego and was constantly throwing her weight around when it came to other people’s performances and storylines,” said an insider. “Some people called her a tyrant, and they’re glad they won’t be seeing her around anymore.”
Pompeo was relatively unknown when she first appeared on Grey’s Anatomy. She grew to stardom after the show paired her with Patrick Demsey, who has also left the show.
