Because of the Bible’s overwhelming influence worldwide, it’s hard to determine how much of Jesus’ story is fact and misguided misinterpretation. Ranker shares a few facts about Jesus that many Christians refuse to believe.

Was Mary A Virgin?

The first one is Jesus’ mother was a “sinless” virgin. There is little mention of Mary’s purity in the Bible. It was ten years after Jesus’ death that the story came into play about her being a virgin at Christ’s birth.

St. Augustine, a great theologian, came up with the idea of original sin being transferred to a newborn due to the mother and father’s mating. Apparently, that’s how Christians came up with the idea that Mary must have been a virgin for Jesus to be born without sin.

Jesus Was An Only Child?

Another fact is Jesus was not an only child. Many churchgoers believe that Jesus was an only child, despite the Bible mentioning his brother, James. He had several other brothers who were not named in the Holy Book.
