As of Wednesday, October 2, former President Donald Trump’s fundraising effort for Hurricane Helene survivors had collected almost 4 million dollars.

USA Today reports that Meredith O’Rourke, Trump’s campaign national finance director, created the GoFundMe campaign. She previously set up a similar fundraiser for victims of the shooting at Trump’s Butler, Pennsylvania, rally earlier this year.

Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign spokesperson, verified that the GoFundMe page is authentic and approved by the former president.

According to the page, the fundraiser has attracted over 25K donations, including a $500,000 contribution from Kelly Loeffler, a former Republican Senator from Georgia.

The page states, “All funds will go towards helping those most impacted by Hurricane Helene. Regardless of size, every donation will make a difference for your fellow Americans in need.”

Jack Hopkins, on Twitter/X, claims that this is not true. Reportedly, only three percent of the funds will go to the hurricane victims.
